Woodforest National Bank is a The Woodlands, Texas-based bank, founded in 1980, that operates branches in Texas, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, South Carolina, Alabama, New York, West Virginia, Maryland, Mississippi , Louisiana, and Virginia. Most branches are located within Wal-Mart stores. Woodforest National Bank is also located within many other retail stores such as Tom Thumb Food & Pharmacy, Kroger, Fruitlandia, and Sams Club. Many Woodforest branches are open 364 days a year, with some open 24 hours a day, and offer immediate availability on its customers' deposits with deposit deadlines at 8 pm.[1]

It began as a small bank in East Houston within a suburb known as Woodforest in 1980, has grown into a network of 600+ branches as of late 2008. Plans are to double the branch network within the next few years. Woodforest began its Retail partnership with Wal-Mart in 1996. Woodforest opened over 200 new branches in 2008 throughout 15 states.[citation needed] In 2008, Woodforest expanded into the states of Mississippi, Alabama, and Louisiana, bringing the total number of states to 15. In 2009, the company plans to open over 100 new branches.

Woodforest is owned by Woodforest Financial Group, which also owns Woodforest Bank, a Federal Savings Bank, and Woodforest Financial Services, Inc., an investment advisor.

Woodforest National Bank was also recognized in 2007 by J. D. Power and Associates for Highest Retail Banking Satisfaction in the south-west region of the United States

Do you wonder if banks here in the Philippines can do the same as Woodforest National Bank? Could they open their banks 364 days in a year and some 24hours a day? It's a sort of impossible but do you know that they do now? Logically they do because they have their ATM's and some are now online thru Internet.
